About the position

We are looking for a Product Designer to join our award-winning, talented team, building the next generation of automated drone applications for our global customers. The ideal candidate gets to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, results-driven environment. Applicants must be good at informing designs through critical design thinking, designing user interfaces for digital platforms, including web applications & mobile apps.



As a Product Designer, you are a FlytBase design advocate, shaping product experiences by creating practical, meaningful designs that help users complete tasks. You help establish the vision and drive consistent product narratives across multiple platforms and touchpoints. Your work as a terrific designer demonstrates content that simplifies and beautifies the overall user experience. You collaborate with people from various teams, such as researchers, engineers, business developers, marketers, and customer operations.


Working in a startup environment would encompass sketching out ideas and iterating on them. You collaborate with multiple teams to establish a consistent design language and voice across all FlytBase products. You'll ensure consistency with Product, UX, UI, and company standards while also looking for opportunities to innovate and thoughtfully diverge as needed and ensuring that all of your solutions are supported by extensive research.


User experience is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our user's needs, behaviours, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy and design. We work on collaborative teams to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight our products' unique capabilities and personalities. You'll play a critical role in creating useful, usable, and delightful products. Working with stakeholders across all functions and levels, you'll have an impact at all stages of product development. You'll explore user behaviours and motivations by conducting primary research such as online interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. As a product designer, the following are expected while working at FlytBase.

  • Design and maintain detailed information architecture and design specifications using storyboards, task flows and sitemaps, etc.
  • Identify and resolve UX issues.
  • Demonstrate and defend your design choices. Your choices should be informed by the overall product plan and your design concepts and thoughts (i.e. colour theory, visual weight, etc).
  • Document elements that allow for a smooth transition to the design and development teams.
  • Be open to feedback from other designers on your designs.
  • Take leadership in collaborating with key stakeholders and engineers to gather and assess user requirements.
  • Have a good eye for detail and the ability to execute every component with quality and a sense of entrepreneurship.



As a designer, you should:

  • Have a portfolio of digital design work for both web and mobile platform(s).
  • Have the ability to understand and distill complex problems into elegant, informed solutions.
  • Be curious, have a hunger to learn new things & be comfortable with ambiguity, fail in a safe environment, and get out of your comfort zone.
  • Have strong communication skills.
  • Focus on attention to detail - you should be able to sweat for the smallest detail.
  • Have the ability to articulate and champion your design solutions for drone usage by mapping out complex and detailed scenarios, developing your solutions based on user-centred design principles, and incorporating research data.
  • High level of taking initiatives as a leader and a "make it work" ethos to successfully bring a product design from conception to launch with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to conduct user needs assessments, task analysis, develop user profiles, identify critical tasks for user research, competitive analysis, user testing, and build usability plans.
  • Design high-level task flow content and then use storyboards and other design documents to communicate concepts and vision to others.
  • Design UI layouts including controls, labels and graphical elements for software on both mobile and desktop platforms with an eye towards experience unification.
  • Create end-to-end detailed design deliverables as a series of experience maps, storyboards, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
  • Ability to articulate and champion your design solutions based on user-centered design principles and incorporating research data.

  • Expert with design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch) to produce wireframes and high-fidelity interactive prototypes.
