You are a passionate technology enthusiast with significant proven experience in leading teams to build innovative platforms that support the business and provide a high-quality user experience. You will have a thirst for working with new technologies and methodologies, and the ability to inspire and mentor members of your teams.
You are able to o define the technical vision and strategy for software engineering teams and able to set individual objectives, clear expectations about expected performance levels and to positively address performance issues.
Heads of Engineering are responsible for driving tech strategy across our highly skilled engineering functions. You will inspire our software engineers across all roles in one of the UK’s most progressive, talented and successful application engineering teams. You will be responsible for the leadership of software engineers across multiple squads, delivering the highest quality of software for each area of interest at OTB. You’ll be working within one of our specialist teams focusing on front end related Customer Experience or back end focused teams like Flights, Hotels, or Platform.
Working closely Software Development Director and Chief Architect, you will focus on delivering the full software development lifecycle, whilst empowering team members to become the best in their field, allowing the teams to deliver high quality software at pace
Provide servant leadership and direction for multiple development teams and their members
Formulate and implement the technology vision, including objectives, key results and initiatives
Participate and contribute to many concurrent engineering programs and projects
Utilise and advocate TDD and SOLID best practices within your teams and with all software engineers
Work with the Chief Architect to deliver the architectural vision of the technology department
Think innovatively and challenge convention in a highly agile environment, collaborating daily with technical colleagues from various disciplines
Stimulate operational excellence, resulting in continuous people and departmental performance improvements
Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the business
