Senior Graphic Designer

Reporting to the Senior Director of Creative Design, the Senior Graphic Designer will help execute and elevate the SSENSE brand voice across print, digital and social platforms, ensuring the visual identity is respected across all applications. He/She will lead the creative process, from original concepts to final implementation, for both SSENSE editorial content and marketing assets. The ideal candidate is an experienced Graphic Designer with demonstrated knowledge of fashion, pop culture, and contemporary art and design.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceptualize and produce the design and layout of interactive editorial assets that will push the evolution of the brand online, including fashion editorial spreads, interview features, and op ed articles
  • Create the design and layout of online marketing and communications campaigns including lookbooks, display advertising, email and affiliate marketing assets
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Editorial and Product teams on the conception and execution of key creative projects, including the evolution of the editorial platform to enhance interactivity
  • Partner with the Creative and Performance Marketing teams to create online campaigns that encourage stronger engagement
  • Partner with internal and external partners to design and develop graphic installations and invitations
  • Contribute to the development of a strong, innovative and well-defined graphic design language for the brand
  • Maintain a rigorous editorial publishing schedule
  • Ensure the guidelines for all applications of the SSENSE graphic identity are respected across all Editorial and digital and physical Marketing channels
  • Provide design guidance to Designers, Junior Designers and the UX team
  • Develop, motivate and mentor young designers, while leading and managing multiple projects
  • Monitor and ensure quality of junior graphic design work
  • Concept and partner with Senior Strategists in executing brand partnerships, microsites, and external activations
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, vendors, consultants, and project teamsĀ 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, or a related field
  • A minimum of 6-8 years experience in graphic design, including agency experience preferred
  • Mastery of Adobe CC, HTML/CSS and responsive design techniques
  • Excellent understanding of page layout, typography and interaction design
  • Experience with industrial design, animation and video a plus
  • Interest in Art Direction, experience an asset
  • Experience with Sketch/Invision a plus
  • Experience requesting quotes, writing purchase orders and dealing directly with vendors
  • Strong understanding of fashion photography and the luxury market
  • Comprehensive knowledge of internet standards and interactivity, as well as an exceptional understanding of information architecture, usability, and wireframing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French
  • Exceptional ability translating concepts into unique, brand appropriate form
  • High facility with creating and using grids, sequence, structure, and consequential storytelling
