**Who We Are** We’re Food52, a groundbreaking and award-winning kitchen and home brand. We support, connect, and celebrate our community of cooks and home enthusiasts, giving them everything they need to eat thoughtfully and live joyfully. We're looking for a software engineer (3+ years experience) who loves to write code in a collaborative team environment. Our product and engineering team consists of the product managers, designers, and engineers who build the systems that Food52 uses to produce amazing editorial content and a shopping experience that delights our users. Our team has ~8 software engineers who work alongside our product manager, UX researcher, designer, and VP of Engineering to build the systems that run Food52.com. Our website is written in Ruby on Rails; on the client side we use React. Our goal is for our team and culture to reflect the diversity of the global community of home cooks. **Who You Are** You are an experienced software engineer, familiar with Ruby on Rails, who has at least three years experience writing code. A background working on ecommerce or editorial/CMS environments is a plus! **Responsibilities** * Add to our ever expanding test library * Refactor code to make it better, stronger, faster * Write new code to implement new features in our custom content-and-commerce platform * Help our team improve the quality of our code through thoughtful collaboration, code reviews, and other software engineering best practices. **Qualifications** * Strong background in web MVC frameworks like Ruby on Rails, or Python and a similar framework. * Strong background in web technologies, including a deep understanding of how a modern web application works end to end (HTTP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc) and how applications perform under load. * Know your way around a database. * A continued love and curiosity for technology, and a desire to stay familiar with the latest available technologies. **Nice to Haves** * Previous e-commerce experience * Previous experience dealing with financial reporting * Love of food and cooking **Benefits** * Annual bonus plan * No tracking of sick or vacation days (p.s. ask us about Summer Week & Winter Week) * Flexible hours * So many snacks! * Monthly cocktail competitions * An ever-flowing giveaway table, featuring kitchenware, cookbooks & Leftover Flower Fridays * Have you seen [our office](https://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/25/fashion/brad-shermans-office-interior-design-on-a-dorm-budget.html)?
